On 14 October 2025, the time will have come: Microsoft will discontinue regular support for Windows 10, and support will end. This means there will be no more free security updates for the Windows 10 operating system. For businesses, this poses a serious risk, as without regular updates, the risk of cyber-attacks and data loss increases significantly.
However, Windows 10 isn’t being completely phased out: Microsoft is offering paid Extended Security Updates (ESU) until 2028. This solution may make more sense for businesses than switching immediately if they need more time to migrate to Windows 11. However, ESUs are expensive, merely extend the lifespan of old systems – and they do not make purchasing new hardware unnecessary.

Check now which devices are in use and whether they are Windows 11-compatible. Where this is not the case, combining ESU with a planned hardware upgrade can be a secure interim solution. Plan your migration to Windows 11 and any necessary hardware carefully.
